Welcome to Clay Elementary, a great place to be! First of all, thank you for entrusting your student to our care! We take great pride in the honor and privilege of educating all students that come through our doors!
To let you know a little about me, I have been an educator with Clay Elementary since 1978 as a teacher, assistant principal and principal. My educational background is with Auburn and Samford Universities. My husband and I have four grown children who are now living within the Southeastern Conference and four grandchildren.
To let you know about our school, we have grown from a very small rural school to a bustling growing community of almost 1000 students, and settled down to a moderately suburban school of approximately 600 students. We have 5 units for the grade levels kindergarten through fifth grade.
Our mission statement was developed by our staff using the acronym of PRIDE, so it is easily remembered by all. It stands for Preparing Responsible Individuals Dedicated to Excellence. We expect our students to learn personal responsibility and remind them of this daily with our morning announcements that end with "Boys and Girls, remember to do the right thing, because it is the RIGHT thing to do". Our hope is that they will carry this throughout their growing and adult years.
We work very hard on communicating with our stakeholders, YOU! Please let us know how we can improve on this by calling us at 379-3000 or by the email link on this page.
I look forward to meeting each of you and who you belong to personally and getting to know you! Please help me with your names as there are over 1000 of you! When I introduce myself to your children, I tell them that I am here to keep them safe and to solve problems, so please let me know how I can help!
